Power supply repair

The most commonly encountered problem in all types of modern electronic equipment is the failure of the power supply.  Today the majority of electronic devices utilize the power supplies of some particular type - the so called switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). The SMPS has many favorable characteristics, in comparison to the old, transformer-based linear-type power supplies: relatively low cost, high efficiency and low physical weight.  However, the circuitry of SMPS is significantly more complicted than that of the liner power supplies.  Also, the rate of failure of SMPS is significantly higher than that of the linear power supplies.  Sometimes the instrument does not work because of the fault in the SMPS and the replacement SMPS is not available.  In most cases, the inoperative SMPS could be repaired and the device will be functional again.  I can diagnose and repair the SMPS used in scientific equipment.
